Do I really have to give an explanation here? I'm going to go on record and say that everyone knows who Martin Luther King Jr. is. If for some deep dark reason you don't here's a link, be blessed.
I decided to go with Dr. King because of the video on Gabby's website. Watching her with the overlay of Martin's "What's your life's blueprint" speech in the back was so powerful I couldn't stop thinking about it, here's my favorite part:
"I want to suggest some of the things that should begin your life's blueprint. Number one in your life's blueprint, should be a deep belief in your own dignity, your worth and your own somebodiness. Don't allow anybody to make you fell that you're nobody. Always feel that you count. Always feel that you have worth, and always feel that your life has ultimate significance."
you can read the whole speech here. Design wise I wanted to use a photo with his hands up in reference to the "hands up don't shoot" movement. Even though there were many photos with his hands up resembling the way you'll hold your hands if in danger of law enforcement, it was something very interesting about this one. There was no reason in particular for the color, I just needed some brightness today = )
